Google Maps Vs Live Maps

 

Google Maps India introduced new feature driving directions for the places in India, where you can get your direction for your source and destination place. But this feature driving directions was already introduced in Live Maps.

In this post we like to compare both Live Maps services in driving directions and Google Maps services in driving directions.

Live maps : Live maps is a good choice to find out the distance and time between the source A or starting point and destination point B or ending point with route options like shortest distance and shortest time. The starting point and ending point can be marked easily with a right click, select start point and end point inside the map.

 

If you are planning for a tour you can use Live maps to find out exact timings and distance in Kilometers or Miles to find out the above said details, just add multiple destinations by clicking add to trip which will extend to C, D, E destinations.

Live Maps also provides right, left turns in step by step with kilometer or miles for local roads, state highways and national highways. If you planned for a long journey you can add a stop in between to stay or halt for particular period,  whenever the stop is added it is notified as the current destination. For instance if you are traveling from starting point A to ending point B and you like to have halt before destination. Now Halt or stop is considered as B and the final destination is considered as C.

Live Maps provides the step by step visualization in the maps for left, right turns with step numbers as shown above picture. It also provides Round trip option which is used to calculate total number of traveling hours, kilometers and destinations. You can also make reverse of source and destination, in which B is considered as A and A is considered as B . Live Maps allows you to add pushpin a small note inside Live maps where you can add small note with description, URL and photo. You can share navigated Live Maps via email or blog.

You can view Live Maps with 2D, 3D (Virtual Earth 3D should be installed) road views and aerial view (Like land), Bird's Eye view, Labels and traffic. Live Maps gives you the useful option zoom in and zoom out where you can zoom in and zoom out places inside Live Maps.

Note: Live Maps provides integration of Live Maps inside your website and you can browse Live Maps on your mobile in the URL mindia.live.com

Google Maps: Google Maps India launched driving directions, and its same as Live Maps features, you can find out distance between two places, time and step by step guides like GPS.

The difference between Live Maps and Google Maps can be differentiated easily by viewing the picture. In Google Maps you can make a query for source and destination for instance (from: Tiruppur, Tamil Nadu, India to: Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India). Live Maps generates step by step with left, right turns but not the proper road name and place. Google Maps generates left turn, right turn with exact road name, places and kilometer. You can reverse the source and destination but the good feature round-trip is not available in Google Maps.

Drag to change route which allows view shortest distance and time in real time. But Live Maps provides route option while selecting source and destination. You can add multiple destination like Live Maps if your going for a long travel, Live Maps provides add stop option between a long travel and you can re calculate the timings and distance, but there is no add stop option in Google Maps. You can check avoid highways and tolls while getting directions in Google Maps.

Google Maps can be viewed in Maps, Satellite and Terrain with more options photos, videos, Wikipedia and web cams as shown above picture. You can navigate Google maps with zooming places and roads as like Live Maps.

If you are a local expert you can add your places via Google Mapmaker. You can also browse Google Maps on your Mobile via Google Latitude and also you can track where your friends are moving now.

In order to understand HTTrack better, lets take up an example. Imagine you want to capture the site www.someweb.com/gallery/flowers/ . Now, HTTrack, by default, will capture all links encountered in www.someweb.com/gallery/flowers/ or in lower directories,example www.someweb.com/gallery/flowers/roses/ . You must understand that it will not follow links to other websites, because this behaviour might cause to capture the Web entirely!

It will not follow links located in higher directories, example, www.someweb.com/gallery/flowers/itself because this might cause to capture too much data.
